Is It Just Me?

Is it just me or do you also miss those times when it was easier?
Is it just me who wants to go back and live in that moment forever?
Is it just me who misses those people who walked away because you never thought they would?
Is it just me who wants to spend all day watching TV, reading books and being a kid. Doing what you want, pursuing your dreams instead of boxing yourself up in a fixed schedule with things to do to be called successful?
Is it just me who wants to go back to the age where you cared more about playing hide and seek than about how much of your skin you hide or show?
I can't help it. I know im supposed to be strong and let things go and that this is a part of growing up but honestly, I don't want to grow up anymore.
Maybe im delusional but growing up was a bad idea. Let's go back to the time when the essence of the person mattered more than the brands on their shell.
A broken heart, a lie unraveled, a dress too long, a skirt too short, eyeliner too thick, waist too thin weren't things that mattered.
Relations outweighed the greed for higher Bank balances
And life wasn't a train you had to catch
Rather it was a stroll along a path
Enjoying the view and the weather
What have we come to?
We work endless hours to increase our bank balances endlessly to impress people we don't know and neglect those we claim to love.
We focus our research on developing robots failing to realise that we have become them ourselves.
Running a mundane life,
Let's break free of these shackles
Let's go back to a time when it was simpler
And the only difference between being a grown up and a kid were mere numbers
Let's go back to those days where girls wore long dresses and picked flowers from the fields
Running around giggling with happiness
Maybe it's just me
Maybe for me the city life isnt meant to be
But is it just me who craves a runaway to a beautiful hillside full of flowers
Is it just me who wants to go back to being Heidi again?

DIY: Natural Lip Balm

Make Your Very Own Natural Lip Balm At Home!

With so much variety for each product, don’t you hate having limited options for your lip balm choices?  I’ve got a solution to help you customise the lip balm to your preferences!
Instead of sticking to the same old boring flavours in the market, MAKE your own.
And I promise you, it isn’t as tough as you think it is. Actually, it’s incredibly simple and won’t take more than 30 minutes to make! Plus it’ll save you like a ton of money. Also it’s absolutely natural and since you’re the one making it, you can be witness to it and call the shots!

Here’s all you need:
-          2 Teaspoons of grated beeswax (you could use a beeswax candle or block for the same)
-          1 Tablespoon of Coconut Oil (if not liquid. If liquid coconut oil is used, 1 ½ Tablespoon)
-          1 Tablespoon of Almond Oil (Sweet)
-          1 ½ Teaspoon of Honey
-          Essential Oil (Flavour of your choice) (Optional)
Do ensure that all the utensils you use for making the Lip Balm are not used for cooking once the lip balms are made. Keep these aside just for cosmetics because they’re going to have a lot of wax content in them.

Here’s what you do:
-          Take a heat proof bowl. Add the coconut oil, almond oil and grated beeswax in the bowl and mix them.
-          Put the bowl in the microwave to heat for about 2 minutes. Make sure that the beeswax melts entirely.
-          Keep the mix out at room temperature for about 30 seconds.
-          Add honey and mix it well. Since honey tends to separate out from the mixture, ensure that it is still well mixed when you transfer this mix into the container for your lip balm.
-          Add a few drops of the essential oil (flavour of your choice) depending on how strong you want the scent to be.
-          Transfer the mix to the lip balm container.
-          Let it cool at room temperature for 30-40 minutes or keep it in the fridge for 20-25 minutes.

And Voila! Your lip balm is ready. And it didn’t take that much time or effort either!
-          If you want a coloured lip balm, follow the above recipe but add a bit of any eye shadow colour of your choice to the Coconut oil, almond oil and beeswax mix before you keep it for heating!
-          If you want a chap stick and not a box lip balm, go ahead and transfer the mix into a tube instead of a container.

These lip balms are amazing to use, make for perfect adorable gifts and barely take any time or money!

Fabulous Foods: Fat Man's Cafe

Fat Man's Cafe!

As the name suggests, Fat Man's Cafe has a menu that'll definitely neutralize a month of your workout at the least.

Fat Man's Cafe has two outlets in Bombay at the moment: One at Bandra Reclamation in the same lane as Chez Moi and Candies and the other in Juhu, in the same building as Grain & Bagel and Quench.

Having been to both the outlets, I must say that they follow a very high level of consistency in not only their ambience but also their service and food quality. The restaurant offers a wide variety of Board Games for those who want to play along with a chilled out vibe and decent music.

The place offers more than just meal foods, it also offers beverages such as coffee and milkshakes and also breakfast. I happened to visit the outlets either for Lunch or Dinner though.

Mozarella & Cheddar Dough Balls
Speaking of the food, let's start with appetizers. Their Jalpaneo Poppers were pretty good too. However, the appetizer that stole the show were their Mozarella & Cheddar stuffed dough balls with Herb Butter dip. I absolutely loved this appetizer, a little more than the pizza to be honest.

Their Mac n Cheese Pizza is every hogger's dream. A beautifully put together dish combining the famous Mac n Cheese with the most loved Pizzas, is tough to do. The pizza didn't taste as great as I expected it would, but it was definitely not a bad decision. I was super excited when I ordered it the first time around. But when I went to the Juhu branch, I found the taste a little off and so I told the waiter serving our the table the same. His name was Zimik, and he was extremely helpful. Our pizza was immediately replaced with apologies for the delay.

Mac n Cheese Pizza
We also ordered the Grilled Pumpkin and Ricotta Ravioli in butter sage sauce. It was quite a pleasant surprise for me as I usually don't like Pumpkin. Adding seasoning to the dish only made it better and strengthened the flavoring of the dish.

For dessert we ordered the Nutella Mousse Cake. An off-the-menu dessert, this is something worth dying for. A beautiful dish with a crunchy layer made using cornflakes topped with chocolate mousse cake. Each bite was like tasting heaven. This dish definitely deserves a 5/5 rating.

The Nutella Coffee Shake is incredible as well.

Nutella Mousse Cake

However, the service, although very helpful and polite, is a little slow. We had to wait for quite some time before our food reached the table and restaurant wasn't very crowded that night either.
Additionally, Fat Man's Cafe is slightly on the more expensive side for food and drinks when compared to the quality and quantity of the food served.

Personally, I think Fat Man's is a place everyone must visit at least once with their friends!

The Girl With The High Walls

To everything she responds with sarcasm,
The reason behind this, no one can fathom;
She can't trust them even if she tries,
She's got her walls up high.

She's the eagle trapped in a cage,
Her heart pure as sage,
Going about the same schedule,
She's never been one to break the rules;

Always doing what she's told,
How did she get so cold,
She used to be the happiest girl before that day,
But life had its way;

The incident hardened her soul,
She went from guardian angel to ghoul ,
A smile always plastered on her face,
Of the pain there isn't a trace.

Bruised, broken & damaged,
The pieces of herself she salvaged,
Stronger than before,
She'd figure it out this time for sure.

Without anybody's help,
She's rose anew, a better version of herself.
Alone she may breakdown, she may cry;
But for the world, she's got her walls held up strong & high.

Changing Trends-For Better Or For Worse?

Recent decades have brought about immense development and prosperity, not only to nations such as India but to the entire world. While we're busy drooling over the scientific and medical progress, we get blind-sighted to all the adverse effects of these trends.
 No longer do we see innocent kids playing fair games amongst themselves but spoiled brats stuck on their i-pads and i-phones. Things such as drug overdoses and pregnant teens, which were then rare are now the most common headlines of the papers. Every day we read articles about teens committing crimes such as murders & rapes, doing drugs, drinking and smoking. You actually can't tell anymore, whether a girl is safe to walk around the streets anymore. All respect for the elders and cultural values has been lost just to be "cool". The overload of studies has burdened students to the point of committing suicide & the cut throat competition has ended all harmony & chances of survival. Children have lost their innocence and charm and speak utter nonsense and too many lies.
Dating, a traditionally western concept has been adopted globally, not only by those in their 20s but also by teenagers. Today's relations are based on nothing more than a mere liking,without any trust, causing the kids to get distracted from achieving and living their best. In these attempts of "have to have a boyfriend", teenagers tend to get misguided and land up doing things which they will regret forever. Terms like "i Love You' are thrown around as if they mean "Hi, how are you?"  We spend our lives trying to impress people who don't matter, by doing things we don't like for reasons we don't know.
Children of 7th grade go clubbing and to hookah parlors every night. The focus of life has shifted from overall growth and development to just being "popular" in school. You find kids of the 1st grade abusing with terms that you never even knew existed when you were so young.
 Families tend to be distant and merely a part of our lives. We feel much closer to our friends than our parents. We tend to hide important things from our family but would be willing to disclose that information to random strangers on Facebook, Twitter, etc. It's not the generation gap now, but the changing trends. The relation between parents and kids has merely come down to provision of basic necessities and some luxuries. There is a lack of emotional attachment & family bond. Medical development may have created a cure for several fatal diseases, but there are very few people who can actually afford the cure. Family ties are easily broken off for monetary gains and simple relations such as friendships are filled with secrets and politics.  Parents no longer concentrate on passing traditional values to their children but want them to focus on earning a lot of money, even at the cost of their humanity. It is safe to say that money has gained value over everything else in life.
People judge you, not by your personality but by your brands. It's not the person that you are which counts, but the bank balance you own.Charity is no longer done to help the poor, but just to become famous. It has assumed a more commercial rather than personal outlook, which basically doesn't help the poor as much as it does the rich.
In addition to these, we always have the environmental problems of Global Warming, Pollution, Degradation of the planet & it's atmosphere, depletion of resources, etc.
The world has turned into a superficial place which further crumbles the poor & builds the rich. Such a world, maybe advanced in all aspects, but it has lost all it's values and significance. All we have left is our medical & scientific progress but at the cost of our Economic, Social & Religious values.

Think about it, is this the kind of progress you want for the World or is it an overall progress you want?

Behind Her Broken Smile:

She smiles & laughs every day,
Going about her work like always.
Trying to keep her priorities the same,
Alas; it's all in vain.

There's a crack in that smile,
Which she just can't hide.
It's too much to take;
There's a lot at stake.

A prison of her own creation,
She can't escape; she's suffocating;
Those iron clad bars you can't see,
Inside them she can't breathe;

Everyone asking her if she's alright,
She's putting up a strong fight,
Alas it's all in vain;
The strings gave way under the strain.

Every day she gets out of bed,
To herself she said,
"Stay strong pretty girl;
Obstacles that life will hurl,

They're temporary.
Not scary.
You can handle rough times,
Like the stars you will shine."

She said that every morning and every night,
Out of everyone's sight.
Always hoping for a miracle;
To help her get to the top of the hill.

She won't give in to this cruel world.
Overcoming all obstacles thrown her way,
Not going to go astray.
It may take a while,
Everyone might be hostile,
But the smile won't leave her face,
In this world, she's going to find her place.

Fabulous Foods:: The Bandra Desert Garden!

     A Sugar Rush Day!

Hey guys!
So I know this post has been overdue for quite sometime now but I've been a little swamped. Anyway here's my review on the Bandra Dessert Garden:

Held on 1st August, 2015 Bandra Dessert Garden brings to you the first of its kind, exclusive dessert exhibit in Bandra. The event organisers, Chrome Entertainment witnessed a phenomenal response with people streaming in even at 5;45pm, just a few minutes before the event ended.The event served as a great exposure platform for new start ups and several home bakers looking to enter the market. Here's something about each stall and what they brought to the table:

1) Sweetish House Mafia:

Having created quite a buzz with its 'Secret Mafia' approach to launch the venture, Sweetish House Mafia has already gained quite a huge fan following over a very short time period. Needless to say, their desserts are well baked, delicious and  melt-in-the-mouth good so if you happen to be a chocolate lover like me, this place is going to soon turn into your happy place!
With her love for chocolate, Ms. Ritika uses Belgian chocolate to prepare her goodies, most of which are chocolate - based. However, she does bake for those who don't like chocolate as much as well.
The stall was filled with her famous cookies, milkshakes and cookie jars to take home. When you visit Sweetish House Mafia, be sure not to miss out on the Nutella filled cookies with sea salt and The S'MORES cookies stuffed with Nutella-coated marshmallows and from-scratch graham crackers.

2) Baking Bridges:

Bringing you to a unique range of perfectly made delicious cheesecakes, there's no doubting why Baking Bridges sold out so quickly! Coming out with a new concept of "Teascake" i.e. a Teacake combined with a cheesecake and combinations such as a Lemon Cheesecake stacked over Red velvet sponge and a Mocha cheesecake stacked over a Fudge brownie, it was hard to believe that almost all of these scrumptious cheesecakes were egg less! If you're looking for something a little lighter or safer, you could always opt for their Oreo cheesecake, Hazelnut cheesecake, Peanut butter and salted caramel cheesecake, lemon-berry and many more!

3) Caramella:

Located in Khar, Caramella offers to you a diverse range of combinations to satisfy your sugar cravings. Not only is their taste incredible but so is their presentation. I would personally recommend that you try them out if you're looking for something new to soothe your taste buds. The Red Velvet with Cream cheese cake jar was absolutely delightful with its freshness adding to the taste. The Molten Chocolate Jar is every chocolate lovers dream with 3 layers of excessively sinful chocolatey goodness in every bite. The stall featured a kitkat chunky with nutella ganache jar, a raspberry & ganache in white jar, a snickers and chocolate jar and a sea salt and caramel jar. Needless to say, this stall had my mouth watering with its variety and oozing sweetness!

4) The Dessert Street:

With the most out-of-the-box cookie innovations and ideas, the Dessert Street blew me away with their Seven Heaven cookie, a cookie made of seven layers of ingredients and crumbles. They also had a delicious cookie in the bread which resembles a croissant, only better and much more fresh and cookie cups (yum!). The team was incredibly hospitable and despite the overwhelming crowd, they did not lower their service quality. This place is definitely going on my top cookie joints, I hope you guys visit it too!

This stall had the best mousse I have EVER had. Their Fererro Rocher mousse and Truffle mousse are just to die for. Not to mention the Oreo Mousse and the Oreo  Mint Mousse! Apart from their irresistible taste, they are uniquely served to you in a tube kind of shape that intrigues you. This baker has put in much thought into her wrapping & much love into her baking. 11) Nice-Kream:

Bringing back with him from New York the concept of Liquid Nitrogen Ice-creams, Janam was more than happy to explain to us how instead of selling factory made ice-cream they make fresh ice-cream in front of the customer using Liquid Nitrogen. The entire process is so designed to let you design a customised ice-cream for yourself based on your moods. You can choose everything from the base to the the toppings and also the "inject-in" sauce flavour! The smooth velvety texture of the ice-cream just adds to its delightful taste.

15) The Cupcake Factory:

Ever felt like maybe the Red Velvet Cupcake would taste better with a Chocolate frosting? Have you ever wanted to just design your own cupcake to overload it with a particular flavour? Because I have. And I finally got the chance to make my own cupcake mix right here at The Cupcake Factory stall! They had their very own Make-it-Yourself Cupcake Bar filled with different frosting flavours, decorations and more. Some of the frosting flavours included were Nutella, Oreo, Peanut butter, Strawberry and Cream cheese Vanilla. Decorations weren't limited to just chocochips or sprinkles but also had edible glitters, sugar initials and Disney characters  for the child inside you! I don't you about you, but the mention of a Make-It-Yourself Cupcake Bar is all the motivation I need to go visit this place over and over again.

 Apart from all this sugar to get you pumped, the event organisers were nice enough to have a Photo Booth for us. Photos and a day of Chocolatey Gooey Sugary Overdose with my friends! There's nothing more that I need to make my day. Thank you Chrome Entertainment for this much needed exhibit. Until next time..

Fabulous Foods: Quench - All Day Pub

                               Quench Your Thirst!

Located among all the coffee shops at Juhu, Gulmohar Road is the Quench -All Day Pub, always willing to quench your thirst! A brilliant place to catch up with friends while enjoying a creative and cozy ambiance, good music, delicious food and a great vibe. Compared to the other slightly pricey drinking places in Juhu, Quench is pocket friendly enough for all college students or those who don't wish to shell out a bomb over a few beers. They have some of the most unique ambiance I've seen in a while with inviting and vibrant colors plastered on the walls in the form of retro art, quotes and paintings of various artists,

They have a wide range of  quirky innovative drinks which might make it hard to decide what you would like to try first, especially if you're looking for something other than the usual beers and shots.
The Quench Highland
We ordered the Quench Highland, a mocktail that made my day. A sweet explosion of flavors on your tongue, this drink takes me back to the days of having multi flavored golas on the beach and left me incredibly refreshed after an exhausting day.

Peanut Butter Chocolate & Banana Milkshake

Their peanut butter chocolate & banana milkshake is a must have for all chocolate lovers who have a soft spot for Reese (the chocolate spread and chocolate brand). A delicious blend of ingredients that go perfectly well together, this milkshake is a must have!
Talking about their food, the restaurant offers you a diverse platter to soothe your palate ranging from sizzlers to Italian to finger foods. Some of their best dishes include their Cottage Cheese Paprika, Paneer Sizzlers and pizza!
The cottage cheese paprika is an appetizer that ought not to be missed, especially for all the vegeterians out there! Served with a beautifully colored sauce and soft, fresh cottage cheese, this dish is just yum!
Paneer Steak Gunzanio Sizzler

The Paneer Steak Gunzanio Sizzler is the right choice if you're looking for some well cooked fettuchi pasta. The cottage cheese steak was soft and fresh made in pepper sauce and served with saute baby corn. A perfect combination of ingredients.
The Paneer Bascilico Sizzler is served with one of the most delicious pesto sauces I've had in a
long time and a Rissoto gone absolutely right. There is nothing about this dish that didn't melt in my mouth and leave me wanting to come back for more,

The pizzas are at par with most other places and nothing extra ordinary. However, if you're looking for a healthy pizza option, then the Exotic Veg Pizza served with several toppings is the way to go.

Last but not the least, the Gnocchi with herb pesto sauce was the best dish on the table that night with perfectly made potatoes and the sauce finished to perfection.

Fabulous Foods: Leo's Boulangerie

         Leo's Boulangerie - A Sugartooth Away!

On a pleasant evening while I roamed around the Lokhandwala market with a friend, it began raining torrentially and suddenly. We found respite in this small bakery and that's how we stumbled upon this beautiful place.
Located next to a bookshop in Lokhandwala market, Leo's Boulangerie is the perfect cafe for anyone who loves coffee and desserts. They give you the variety to choose beyond the regular Red Velvet or Chocolate Truffle. The food options are innovative and absolutely mouth-watering. They are currently expanding their menu to include snack foods such as pastas, sandwiches and much more.
However, what highlights them so distinctly from all competitors is not only their delicious food but also their incredible customer service. They never fail to greet and serve you with warmth, focusing on the customer more than the sales. This comes off as a welcome surprise where all businesses are focused only on sales and tend to sideline the customer's needs and wants!
My absolute favorite is their Chocolate Opium cake which just happens to melt in your mouth, with a perfect balance between milk chocolate and dark chocolate making you fall in love with every bite.

           Chocolate Opium Pastry                                                    Leo's Famous Leo's Cheesecake!

Their Red Velvet cheesecake is much better than that at most restaurants around as are most of their cheesecakes. Their specialty cheesecake, Leo's Cheesecake, is a Philadelphia baked cheesecake which is a great choice when you want a break from red velvet or chocolate! They have Banana Walnut bread which could entrance with you every slice. And, last but not the least, another one of my favorites is their 3 chocolate cake. That delicious pastry derives a perfect balance among milk,dark and white chocolate as well as between soft cushion textures and a bit of a crunchy bite!
Red Velvet Cheesecake
They also make customized 3D and picture cakes and are one of the best bakeries in town!
A quiet cosy place, filled with warmth and gooey goodness, I know for sure that once you go there, you're always going to go back!
